About

Kai Daniel Moore is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Theological Union and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Their research is in constructive/systematic theology and critical social theory, especially queer theory and intersectional liberation theologies. Kai’s current project investigates the metaphysical claims of contemporary anti-trans rhetoric in relation to theological constructions of materiality and the human body.

His first book The Scandalous Body of Christ: Flesh, Power, and the Queerness of the Cross (under review) is a queer power analysis of the crucifixion of Jesus, using Michel Foucault and Audre Lorde to show how Jesus demonstrates embodied resistance to Roman authority, and argues that theologically he was an active agent in his life/death/resurrection instead of a sacrificial victim.
